Who doesn’t know her – The Mouse from the Westdeutscher Rundfunk, known from the “Sendung mit der Maus”?! On March 7, 2021, she will be an incredible 50 years old and still enjoys great popularity. She has accompanied us for several generations – without a word, but always with a loud wink. 😉

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of TheMouse and its laughing and factual stories, ACCENTFORM was commissioned by WDR to produce a big mouse figure. We scaled and adapted the 3D data provided by the customer. Based on these data, we milled and assembled the model in several segments using our 5-axis milling machines. This styrofoam figure was then encased in fiberglass using a hand-laminating process. The surface was sanded by hand and colored by airbrush according to exact customer specifications. A final, extremely matt clear varnish serves to protect the airbrush paint. To give the large mouse a stable hold, the finished sculpture was mounted on a round metal plate. A special highlight for us during the work was the visit of the WDR film team. The station accompanied part of the production and summarized it in a film report.

Dental implant illustration model

Anschauungsmodell Zahnimplantat

This 2m high display model represents a multiple enlargement of a dental implant. It is used for illustration purposes at trade fairs and exhibitions in the dental field. The data supplied by the customer was prepared by ACCENTFORM in CAD/CAM programs.

The individual parts were manufactured and assembled using our CNC milling machines. The B1 classification had to be taken into account. The styrofoam model was then encased in FRP and smoothed.

The smoothing of the surface is a very complex process, here the surface is sanded 3x, 2x filled, so that the final finish paint can be executed in a high surface quality.

The surface painting was done in a noble titanium look, true to the original – smooth on top and provided with a rough surface in the lower area of the implant.

To ensure stability, the model has received a steel plate in the base area.

Promotional Beer Bottle

Made exclusively for one of our clients, we made an oversized fibreglass longneck bottle by using a hand lay-up method.

The promotional bottle is ideal for promotion purposes and as an eye catching effect at the entrance area into restaurants, on beer trailers, or at home in your own garden.

The well-known 0.33-liter beer bottle was made about 3m (over 9 ½ feet) tall and 750 mm (almost 2 ½ feet) wide.

Due to the 3 mm (1/10 inch) thick laminated walls, the promotional bottle is sturdy and stable. An extra weathering resistance coating was applied as requested by the client.

GRP Shower Gel Bottle

The AXE Effect – With us, even in oversize

To increase the publicity of the various AXE Shower Gels to the intended younger target market, the Doyko agency set up eight 3.5-meter (11 ½ feet) high shower gel bottles as shower cubicles at the open-air festivals.

ACCENTform developed these large items ready for shower use. In planning, design, choice of materials, construction, labeling, installation and transport logistics, the Dokyo advertiser could fully rely on ACCENTform GmbH with its broad experience in custom fibreglass design.

For a realistic construction, our technical product designers scanned an original bottle by means of an area laser and then developed not only the geometry of the half shells, but they also shaped the corresponding transportation racks. Thus, these original showers, along with the festival music, could be sent on tour to various locations in Germany.

As always, the adherence to delivery dates and strict budget compliance by ACCENTform were commended by the client.  This allowed the Doyko agency to concentrate on other promotional activities. To the production connoisseur, you may have noticed that while everything appears to be from a single casting, the shells were produced by ACCENTform in much more efficient process – utilizing the hand lay-up method.

Eggs and unusual solutions have been a good combination at least since Columbus. For this huge specimen, too, they thought outside the box. Instead of elaborately making a positive mould, which would be difficult to round off, a plastic membrane was stretched onto a two-dimensional mould and filled with air. The membrane was then moulded with GRP in a hand-laminating process. Finally, the system was mounted on a stable base plate.

These other examples were first milled from polystyrene 5-axis and then glued together in our model building shop.
For the surface you can choose between raw styrofoam, GRP and polyurea. Styrofoam is the cheapest, light but unfortunately not really hard-wearing and only suitable for indoor use. Polyurea is a spray plastic and a cheaper alternative to GRP. An object coated with polyurea can be painted and used outdoors. Due to the spraying process, the surface is more like tangerine peel. If the surface is to be very high quality and smooth, the egg is coated with GRP. Due to the high cost of the surface treatment (repeated sanding/filling), the price is significantly higher than that of the other two variants.
