Giant globe awakens wanderlust in trade fair visitors

For our customer MOProjects we have produced a 1 meter globe. To create a giant globe, a raw sphere with a diameter of 100 cm was first produced from two hemispheres glued together using the GRP hand laminate process. The surface of the spherical body was then filled and sanded to prepare it for wrapping/gluing.

ACCENTFORM has the largest range of GRP molds for large-format spheres in various surface finishes. Foiling/gluing allows balls of any size to be foiled/glued with visually impressive and high-resolution images.

globus foiling

The particular challenge in foiling/gluing a sphere is to divide a 2D image in a complex conversion process into several elliptical segments (24 pieces for a sphere with a diameter of 100 cm), which enable the foil plot to be applied to the curves of the sphere.

This manufacturing process allows spheres of any size (up to over 10 m in diameter) to be wrapped/glued with visually impressive and high-resolution images without distorting the image to be applied.

This foiled globe was made for our customer MOProjects. Since then, it has been used as an exhibit and attracts visitors at trade fairs and in showrooms alike.
