Large globe as an eye-catcher for Skoda

A special highlight at the IAA 2011 in Frankfurt was a 4.5 m globe on the Skoda stand. ACCENTFORM was commissioned to build a globe that impressively presents the car manufacturer’s brand and claim.

The high-gloss painted GRP globe consists of 12 identical individual segments, each with a surface area of 7.5 m², and has a total weight of 400 kg. All individual segments were manufactured using the hand laminate process with a wall thickness of approx. 4 mm and took into account the fire protection requirements for the GRP laminate in accordance with DIN 4102-B1.

Using a special template, 3,100 different buttons were stuck onto the exact positions of the continents as eye-catchers.

It took just six weeks to produce the globe, starting with the CAD design, model and production mold construction and the manufacture of the 12 segments.
