GRP artwork for Audi at Design Miami/ 2013
The Audi stand at Design Miami/ 2013 is all about Audi Sport. Two super sports cars are well-lit in front of the red diamond backdrop we produced. The three-dimensional work of art made of GRP represents the Audi Sport logo
The artwork consists of around 30 diamonds in various sizes, from 50 x 74 cm to over 2.40 m x 2.07 m in size. They are made of GRP laminate with sandwich systems for improved rigidity. The wooden molds we produced were used to make a rhombus with side walls and a lid, which were later joined together and seamlessly filled.
All painted in the typical Audi Sport – RED.
The three-dimensional installation plays with the rhombus, the symbol of Audi Sport. The diamonds were hung on the wall, glued together to form a column and suspended from the ceiling.
The challenges for us in this project were the complexity of the structure and the surface treatment of the diamonds. The surfaces were all produced with a mirror finish, which required an extremely high degree of care.
We also manufactured very solid transport racks that were suitable for air and sea freight to protect the sensitive surfaces during transportation.
We were able to achieve the perfect surfaces requested by the customer.
