Exhibition wall sets new highlights
The two new BMW models drive into the spotlight between our two-part highlight wall at the Geneva Motor Show. The highlight of this extravagant background are the 183 diamond-shaped light cut-outs. The wall has the shape of two spherical cut-outs. The matching sphere would have a diameter of 16 meters.
One half of the wall measures approx. 5.3 x 12.0 m and consists of six individual elements that are connected to each other. Only a production mold measuring approx. 2.7 x 5.0 m was required to manufacture the elements. For the light cut-outs, however, 183 auxiliary shapes. Economical, efficient and computer-aided planning could reduce these to a minimum. The auxiliary molds were produced with our five-axis industrial robot in lightweight model block material.
The precise positioning of the auxiliary molds on the production mold meant that the wall elements could be manufactured to an exact shape. To increase the rigidity of the elements, honeycomb-shaped struts were attached to the rear.
Good cooperation with the customer ensured problem-free installation on the customer’s steel scaffolding. We would like to thank Winkels Messebau GmbH for the order.
