Sports car as an impressive stage backdrop made of polystyrene
On behalf of the company Neulant van Exel we were allowed to produce a chic sports car model made of styrofoam in original size.
The customer provided us with 3D data for the production of the model. Based on the 3D data supplied, a 1:1 replica was milled with high precision from a large-format polystyrene block. The 4.8 m long model was produced on a 5-axis portal milling machine (10 x 4.5 m) in just one clamping operation.
The car tires were milled separately and later attached to the model so that they could move. For further processing, the open-pored polystyrene surface was closed with a mineral filler by manual processing. The sports car model was then painted in striking red and black to give it its characteristic exterior. The attachment of the rotating car tires and the installation of the lamps were carried out by the customer after delivery.
After its final completion, the luxury car was initially used as a stage backdrop for the performance of a well-known German rapper duo and was a real highlight of the stage set for the audience.
