The mouse from flat screen to 3D mouse figure

Who doesn’t know her – the mouse from Westdeutscher Rundfunk, known from “the program with the mouse”?! On March 7, 2021, she will be an incredible 50 years old and is still very popular. It has been with us for several generations – without a word, but always with a wink 😉

The mouse figure made of plastic (GRP)

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the mouse and its laugh and factual stories, ACCENTFORM was honored by the WDR to produce a 1.7 m tall mouse figure. We scaled and adapted the 3D data supplied by the customer. Using this data, we milled and assembled the model in several segments using our 5-axis milling machines. This polystyrene figure was then hand laminating process with glass fiber. The surface was sanded by hand and colored using an airbrush according to the customer’s exact specifications. A final, extremely matt clear coat protects the airbrush paint. To give the large mouse a stable base, the finished sculpture was mounted on a round metal plate.

A special highlight for us during the work was the visit of the WDR film team. The broadcaster accompanied part of the production and summarized it in a film report.
